ASK-IT-CAN: “Does service on the Service Board jeopardize anonymity for my qualifier? This is a serious question that has sparked numerous 'debates'! ”
(Answer by Roger G.): I don't think it does, really. It just depends on you as an individual, or your qualifier.
(Answer by Doon R.): When we start on the board, we provide our names, addresses, and phone numbers. Obviously it is confidential information. We indicate whether or not we are comfortable taking Al-Anon messages, whether it's okay to leave an Al-Anon message. You can always give a private cell phone number, not your home number. There are things you can do, just as you can maintain your anonymity at any meeting, or anywhere you go, to protect your qualifier's anonymity. I don't think it's a problem.
ASK-IT-CAN: “The location of this meeting is really hard to get to – any possibility of changing it in the future?”
(Answer by Roger G.): I hope not. My car automatically just gets here. I put it on auto-pilot. You can carpool.
(Answer by visitor, Pete): I found this spot seven years ago. It's difficult to find a place that is nice and affordable.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 9:32 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy W. (Secretary, Service Board) Al-Anon Information Service Office of Orange County
